The library collects information materials which include books, research reports, newspapers, journals, magazines, videos, posters etc. The resources are collected through purchase, donation and exchange of resources.

At present CELDIC’s affluent library has 15,000 valuable & rare books and Research Reports on different issues and subjects including poverty alleviation, gender and development, rural development, environment, child and human rights, good governance, health, micro-credit etc.

The central library offers library services to all interested people of the society. The services include lending of books, reading services and IT facilities. Central library has two sections – reading and reference. The library remains open 9.00 to 17.00 hours and 5 days a week.

Two types of membership are offered e.g. reader members and organization members. At present central library has 2322 reader members 104 organization members.

The library regularly subscribes 12 dailies (4 English & 8 Bengali) and 40 titles of journals, magazines (local and foreign). The library receives almost 210 titles of journal, magazine, newsletter, bulletin and other publications published by different institutions, national and international organizations in a regular basis.

Central library does documentation of all collected information materials. The documentation is done in three different ways e.g. cataloging, news clipping and compilation. Cataloging is done for all books and reports of the library though (Library Management System) software. Newspaper clipping is done on 52 titles from 12 dailies. CELDIC prepare compilation on 7 regular issues (women, education, Human rights, children, health, environment and natural disaster) and one current issue of common interest. Both news clipping and compilation are extremely valuable for those who would like to develop themselves with more knowledge and information

Central library is completely automated. It uses its own library automation (customized) software. This web based library management software (LMS) is being used to provide effective and quick service to CELDIC users. At present the database contains information of 10,000 books and reports, information of 200 films and documentary (CD/DVD), profiles of the library members. The software has scope for future expansion.
